Attachmate Kicks Off Legacy Integration Webcast Series With Session For Supply-Chain Intensive Organizations

“Unlocking Legacy Applications” Webcast Series Combines Industry Expertise and Experience to Help Organizations Unlock, Reuse and Profit from Their Legacy Assets

SEATTLE, January 23, 2007 – Attachmate Corporation today announced that it will host the first session of its six-part “Unlocking Legacy Applications” webcast series on January 24, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. EST. Recognizing the importance of host and mainframe systems, which hold a majority of corporate data in the typical IT infrastructure, the series aims to help organizations increase revenues and reduce costs by re-using their legacy assets. Hosted in conjunction with Cambar Solutions, the first session, “Recharging Mainframe Solutions for Complex Supply Chains,” will explore how supply-chain intensive organizations can extend the life of their legacy mainframe applications.

Attachmate’s Verastream legacy integration suite provides a complete range of tools that enable organizations to “service-enable” mainframe, web and desktop applications. Verastream-generated services can be mixed, matched and reused selectively to extend legacy functionality to new supply chain applications or new users. No code changes to legacy applications are required.

Attachmate’s “Unlocking Legacy Application” webcast series begins on January 24, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. EST with “Recharging Mainframe Solutions for Complex Supply Chains,” which will include discussions on:

  • Increased customer retention;
  • Enhanced business development;
  • Complete origin-to-destination visibility across supply chain;
  • Decreased customer-service costs; Lower supply-chain integration costs and delays; and,
  • Ability to build customer relationship and supply-chain service.

“As customers continue to demand the ability to self-manage their supply chains in order to oversee the entire order lifecycle, from placing an order to checking on distribution status, web self-service is becoming a necessary business standard,” said Eric Varness, vice president of marketing for Attachmate. “However, many organizations do not know how to cost-effectively integrate their legacy assets into their supply-chain and other customer-facing applications. The ‘Unlocking Legacy Applications’ series will put customers one step closer to meeting their customers’ needs without disturbing valuable legacy data and logic, or associated business processes.”

Additional webcasts will be hosted throughout 2007 on a variety of topics, including:

  • “Solving Desktop Complexity in the Contact Center,” March 21, 11 a.m. PDT;
  • “Turning Mainframe Banking Applications into SOA Assets,” May 23, 11 a.m. PDT;
  • “Turning Mainframe Insurance Applications into SOA Assets,” May 24, 11 a.m. PDT;
  • “Service-Enabling Legacy Applications: Where to Start,” June 27, 11 a.m. PDT and July 11, 11 a.m. PDT; and,
  • "Service-enabling CICS Applications: Best Practices,” September 19, 11 a.m. PDT.
