Reflection X 2007: America's New Idol for X Connectivity
If you are familiar with Attachmate's Reflection® X and KEA!® X for accessing X graphical applications from your Windows PCs, you know that both PC-X server solutions have a great reputation and loyalty among users, because of their performance, reliability, and extensive features.
This year will mark a new X technological achievement: Reflection X 2007
Scheduled for Fall, 2007, Reflection X 2007 is completely re-architected to allow customers to take advantage of these significant new features:
- Suspend/resume: The suspend/resume feature allows you to suspend an X session on one machine and resume it on another. While the session is suspended, clients continue to run and update a virtual graphics display.
The suspend/resume paradigm has many applications. For example, some engineering applications implement the use of simulations that can take days to run. By supporting suspend/resume, Reflection X 2007 allows the simulation to continue running during the night or over the weekend—but the application is still accessible wherever the user needs to access it. Reflection X 2007's cross-platform support will enable suspend/resume scenarios on mixed platforms.
- Cross-platform support: Reflection X 2007 can be run on Windows® XP, Windows Vista, Linux, and UNIX desktops, a capability that complements virtually any desktop deployment strategy.
- Desktop sharing of sessions: Increasingly, users are working online with teams of people in various locations. Desktop sharing allows these disparately located teams to collaborate in real-time on enterprise applications.
Multiple users can alternately take control of mouse and keyboard functions to drive any type of X application, whether it's CAD/CAM, financial, EDA, ASIC, or others. Desktop sharing is also compelling for online training initiatives that involve sophisticated X applications.
Optimized for 2-tier and 3-tier models
Reflection X 2007's new architecture is designed to optimize use, in the traditional 2-tier model, which allows connections directly from a PC to a graphical X application, exactly as with Attachmate's current shipping product, Reflection X. It also works in a 3-tier model, which ensures session continuity in the event of machine or network failure.
Get on board June 25th with the Reflection X 2007 Technology Preview 2
Attachmate created the Attachmate Vision program and associated Technology Previews to give customers an early look at our next-generation solutions for testing purposes. The program helps us continue to deliver innovative and reliable secure host access and PC-X server products. Technology Preview 1 (TP1), from January to March, was well-received by participating customers from various market sectors, including microchip design, finance, CAD/CAM, engineering, and telecom.
Because of its success, we are happy to announce Technology Preview 2 (TP2), scheduled for June 25 through the end of July. TP2 is open to Reflection X and KEA! X customers, and customers interested in this new and exciting next-generation X technology.
If you would like to get an early look and test Reflection X 2007 in your own environment before its scheduled release, please visit https://vision.attachmate.com.
