To minimize the Ribbon

  2. In the menu list, choose Minimize the Ribbon.

You can restore the Ribbon by clicking the Quick Access Toolbar menu button and then choosing Maximize the Ribbon.

Specify which dialog box to open when InfoConnect starts

By default, the Create New Document dialog box is displayed when you open the InfoConnect workspace.

To specify which dialog box to display when InfoConnect opens

  1. Under Workspace Settings, click Configure Workspace Defaults.

  2. In the When starting workspace box, select one of the following options.

Display the Open dialog box used to choose a session document file.

    Show nothing

Open the workspace without displaying a dialog box.

Changes you make using Configure Workspace Defaults are saved to the Application.settings file in your InfoConnect user application data folder The default is \Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Micro Focus\InfoConnect\Desktop\version.

Create or modify a Layout

In InfoConnect, the size, location, and arrangement of the workspace and any open terminal or Web session documents can be saved to a layout file. When opened, a layout automatically opens and arranges all documents saved to the layout, opens and positions any docked panes (such as Scratch Pad or Screen History), and connects session documents to configured hosts.

If the workspace is configured to display documents as tabs, you can create a name for each tab. This can be useful when you use two different applications on one host. You can create a session document that connects to that host, then open the document twice, add a different name to each tab, and then save your layout.

In addition, by using layout files, you can access the InfoConnect .NET API in multiple instances of InfoConnect simultaneously.

NOTE:If you already have terminal session or Web session documents open when you open a layout, the layout opens in a new workspace.

By saving terminal sessions you use regularly to a layout, you can open them all at once, arranged as you prefer, just by opening the layout.

To create a layout

  1. Open the documents and any docked panes you want to include in the layout.

  2. (Optional) If the workspace is configured to display documents as tabs, you can add a descriptive label to each document tab.

    1. Right-click the session tab, and then choose Tab Properties.

    2. In the Name box, type in the name that you want to appear on the tab, and then click OK.

  3. Adjust the size and position of the workspace, as needed

  4. Save the layout.

The steps depend on your user interface mode.

    Ribbon

On the File menu, choose Save Layout.

    InfoConnect Browser

On the InfoConnect menu, choose Save Layout.

    TouchUX

Tap the Folder icon and then under File, select Save Layout.

    Classic MDI

From the File menu, select Save Layout As.

Name and save the layout file to a trusted location A trusted location is a directory that's designated as a secure source for opening files. By default, InfoConnect allows you to open documents only in directories specified as trusted locations using the Specify Trusted Locations dialog box. , and then click Save.

To modify a saved layout

  • To save changes to a layout, save it again using the same name.

NOTE:InfoConnect doesn't prompt you to save changes to a layout.

To access multiple layouts using the InfoConnect .NET AP

  1. Enter the necessary API settings as follows:

  2. Enter the appropriate values for the server and channel name.

Set up a Workspace startup action sequence

You can set up InfoConnect to perform a series of actions when a workspace starts, rather than when a session opens and connects to the host.

This allows you to automate actions that are independent of a session. For example, if you are creating Visual Basic for Application (VBA) macros, you can set up an action sequence that opens the VB Project Editor, the VBA Help, and the VBA Guide when you open a workspace.

To set up a workspace startup action sequence

  1. Under Workspace Settings, click Configure Workspace Defaults.

  2. Under Workspace and Documents, in the When starting workspace list, select Run Startup action.

  3. Click Select Action.

  4. On the left pane of the Select Action dialog box, under Map To, select Action Sequence.

  5. Under Run Startup Action, click Add and, in the Action list, choose an action.

  6. Repeat Step 6 to add additional actions and complete the action sequence.

Select the interface type (Ribbon, Browser, TouchUX, or Classic MDI)

With InfoConnect, you can display sessions in four types of user interface modes:

  • Ribbon shares the look and feel of Microsoft Office applications.

  • Browser has a look and feel that is similar to the latest Web browsers.

  • Classic MDI is similar to the legacy Attachmate InfoConnect and EXTRA! X-treme terminal emulation applications.

  • TouchUX provides a touchscreen user experience.

To select the interface type

  1. Click Configure User Interface.

  2. In the User interface mode list, select the type of interface you want to use.

  3. To select a look and feel for the Ribbon or TouchUX interface modes, choose from the options in the Look and Feel / Color Scheme list.

  4. Close and reopen the workspace.

Changes you make using Configure User Interface are saved to the Application.settings file in your InfoConnect user application data folder The default is \Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Micro Focus\InfoConnect\Desktop\version. .

Change the language

By default, InfoConnect uses the same language as the operating system to display text within the Ribbon user interface, dialog boxes, and the workspace. You can change the language for this text if you installed additional languages with InfoConnect, and if your operating system supports it.

To select a different language

  1. Under Workspace Settings, click Configure User Interface.

  2. In the User interface language list, choose the language to which you want to change.

NOTE:Changes you make to the Ribbon are specific to the language selected when those changes are made; for example, if you create a custom Ribbon when Spanish is selected for the user interface, that customized Ribbon is available only when the user interface is viewed in Spanish.

Choose Whether to Participate in the Product Experience Improvement Program

The Product Experience Improvement program is designed to help Micro Focus improve InfoConnect over time. This program collects information about how people use InfoConnect without interrupting the users in their tasks. The information that is collected helps Micro Focus identify which InfoConnect features to improve.

NOTE:For a detailed list of the types of information this program gathers, see Configure Usage Data Dialog Box.

InfoConnect is set to participate in this program by default. If you choose not to participate, you’ll need to clear the Enable Usage Data option as follows.

To choose whether to allow InfoConnect to gather usage data

  1. Under Workspace Settings, click Configure Usage Data.

  2. Select whether to participate in the Product Experience Improvement program by selecting or clearing the Enable Usage Data option.

  3. Close and reopen the workspace.

NOTE:This setting is saved in the Application.Settings file. If you are deploying this setting, you will need to create a package for this custom file as shown in Deploying Workspace Settings and then deploy it to users as shown in Deploy InfoConnect in the InfoConnect Deployment Guide.
